DJ Ben Prescott
Music has always been a big part of my life. At any family gathering music was always a heavily discussed topic and from a young age I learnt how different types of music can change peoples moods. Once I realised this I knew that I would like to one day like pursue a career in music.
How Ben Prescott got involved with the DJ Industry
Now before I get into this I’m fully aware of the question you’re asking yourself - How old are you? 20 is the answer to your question. I’m pretty aware that some people have knocked me for my age with some clients even asking if I’m too young to do my job! I actually already have 7 years of continuous performing experience. When I was 13 I went with my parents to a local carnival club fundraiser where they had a DJ as the entertainment. I was extremely intrigued. It was not the first time I had seen a DJ at a party but it was the first time I had paid attention to how the audience reacted to the music. After a couple hours of a full dance floor I confidently went and introduced myself to the DJ. Following a pretty brief discussion I was asked if I was willing to take over for half an hour and I blissfully jumped at the opportunity. I was able to keep people on the dance floor full and even walked away with £10 in my pocket. I enthusiastically went back and sat with my parents with my face gleaming and the rest it history.
Building up to today
Over the next couple of years I played at kids parties/small events and built up my equipment. In 2016 I was ready to fully commit to entertaining people and setup a DJ business called ‘BP Sounds’. It was popular from the start and found myself playing at a range of Weddings, Birthdays and Young Farmers Events. Over the next 4 years I continued to refine my trade and watched my business grow across Somerset and Devon. Many customers admired seeing a younger vibrant DJ at events which I believed helped me get more bookings. In 2018 I joined the entertainments team of a popular South West Holiday park for a season where I entertained audiences on stage throughout the summer. In this time I also got involved in local radio where I started a Saturday evening radio show which I still do today (head over to ToneFM for more information). By 2019 I had played to every type of audience and had also visited some brilliant venues including The Mercure Bristol, Somerset County Cricket Ground and Maunsel House. By the end of 2019 I had managed to establish a brilliant reputation for myself and my business which was when I realised it was time to take things to the next level.
Prescott Entertainment
This year (2020) I decided to rebrand my business to ‘Prescott Entertainment’ as a form of expansion. Instead of just offering DJ Hire my new business can provide many exciting services including Silent Disco Hire, Magic Mirror Hire, Event Photography, Wedding Signs and Dance Floors. Although I rebranded ‘Prescott Entertainment’ still provides the same professional, personal and bespoke service as my previous business (BP Sounds). Today I continue to grow, travel to new venues and meet new people. Whilst doing this I still champion what I learnt when I was 13 - Music can easily change peoples mood. I have the skill to be able to play the right music for you and your guests.
