5 Genuine Reasons Why You Should Hire a Wedding Planner

We got the opportunity to speak with Laura from Kept Weddings which is a wedding planning service covering Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. One of the biggest regrets Laura hears from couples is that they wish they hired a wedding planner.

Every wedding is different, so the extent of the support will vary, however a lot of couples underestimate how much time and effort is needed to bring their dream wedding to light. Laura gives us her opinion on the genuine reasons why you should be hiring a wedding planner.

1. They’ve Done it Before

Experience is key to a seamless wedding day. Having experienced something before, makes you more aware of what to expect and how to respond. Your initial thoughts might be that you've organised gatherings before, and that planning a wedding can't be that much different. But planning a wedding is a much bigger affair.

A wedding has lots of tiny cogs which contribute to its whole. Most couples have never planned a wedding before and so details can easily be overlooked. A wedding planner is able to pick up on important points sooner rather than later minimising any potential issues on the day.  They can also share great design ideas that you might not have thought of.

2. They Save You Time

An average wedding can take about 250-300 hours to organise. In perspective, this is A LOT. For couples who are both working full time, and especially who are bringing up children as well, will find it difficult to invest the time needed to make well- informed decisions.

A wedding planner will have previous experience working with a huge range of suppliers and will be abreast of new ones. They will be able to understand what you are looking for and direct you to the most relevant suppliers for you to consider.

“I am an experienced wedding planner in South Devon who has worked on many exciting events across the country and abroad. Dedicated to providing a first class service with meticulous attention to detail, I will give you sound advice and knowledge on the running of your day, selecting and managing your suppliers and presenting solutions to any potential issues”

3. They Save You Money

Getting married is one of the most expensive life events that happen to any couple aside from buying a house and having children. Just the basics to get wed can seem expensive, so budget conscious couples are always wanting to find ways to cut costs.

A wedding planner would seem like a likely suspect when cutting costs, but they can actually help you save money too. Their knowledge of how much things typically cost will ensure you get the best options for your budget.

4. They Manage Your Suppliers

You might book a supplier based on their product or service, but they could be poor communicators causing you unnecessary stress and worry. As a professional in the industry, you would expect that a supplier will know exactly what to do on the day of your wedding, but this isn’t always the case.

A wedding planner will recognise the needs of each supplier and ensure that they all work seamlessly together. As bride and groom, you will not have time, nor want to respond to questions from suppliers on your wedding day. You will want to be getting ready and enjoying every moment with your loved ones.

5. They Can Respond to Changes

Even if you planned everything carefully beforehand, there are always uncontrollable factors that can give rise to unexpected circumstances on your wedding day. You might find that the onset of rain has prevented your outdoor ceremony from taking place.

How will you be able to move everyone inside? If you are about to walk down the aisle, you will need someone to direct a quick shift of the ceremony without causing a panic amongst suppliers and guests. A wedding planner will be on hand to respond quickly and effectively making potentially a big issue into something quite minor.

It’s clear to see that there are great benefits to having a wedding planner by your side. For Laura, it’s not just about planning a wedding, but creating a special occasion between a couple that they will cherish for years.

Kept Weddings provides an affordable pay as you go style wedding planning service and on the day wedding coordination. You can book one-off consultations to get expert advice as you plan, or you can hire her to manage suppliers and ensure the smooth running of your wedding day.
